How We Came to Be

In 1948, Industrial Communication and Sound, Inc. (ICS) began as full service, electronic systems contractor serving Greater Cincinnati and Tri state. Ed Dean founded and operated ICS. This time was the infancy of the audio and security contracting business. Ed operated the business until 1971.

With the loss of its orginial owner and founder, ICS faced difficult times. Thomas Volz, project manager and lead technician, was passionate about the business and purchased the company. As Thomas would later say, " It was either buy the company or find a new job." His vision was to develop a quality driven, customer-oriented firm. Through years of hard work, he achieved his vision.

Thanks to Thomas Volz, ICS is a technically superior company providing a wide variety of electronic system solutions for schools, businesses, hospitals, clinics, local and state municipalities, museums and places of worship.

1993, Thomas took another innovative step. He rewarded his employees by giving them an ownership stake in the company. Since each employee is a shareholder in ICS, an ownership culture pervades the company. As owners, ICS employees are directly invested in you - the customer. This ownership culture makes ICS a leader in customer satisfaction.

Over the decades, ICS has kept pace with the changing technologies. The systems ICS designs and builds are the most advanced and durable.

ICS utilzes the latest in proven technology. ICS offers a full range of professional services, including consultation, design, installation, repair and preventative maintenance, allowing our employees to deliver a variety of solutions to meet your current and future needs.
